I just realized I have what I consider to be my first successful kitbash, which I did on a Plasticville item. This is exciting for me because I admire those who kitbash well, it is  a very creative to do, and I have been disappointed when I kitbashed before.

First, I will digress and share a prior unsuccessful kitbash of mine. I had a very nice 2 door engine house (maybe International Hobbies made it).  I kitbashed it to make a Stadium front or wall for a ball park on my layout because I thought the brick color  and windows/vents were would work well for the stadium front.

When I attempted this kitbash, I had no Dremel tool and was unhappy with the result, and wish I still had my original engine house. Now, I have some cut up pieces of it.

Recently, I kitbashed a Plasticville station, cutting off part of the back of the roof using a Dremel tool so it would fit in a place on my layout without being hit by a passing train,  and painted the white walls a tan color, which I prefer. You can see the finished product on the current thread entitled Model Train Stations under Scenery and Structures.

I share this for those who may have been disappointed with their prior kitbashing endeavors.

My take away is that common, inexpensive  Plasticville structures that are not in pristine condition may be very good for kitbashing.

Here, you can share your experiences kitbashing Plasticville and other models. Arnold
