I have a 1987 GP-9 #8800 from 1987, which is from the “Black Diamond” set.   I seem to have sheared off the center idler gear from the horizontal motor truck.   I’m having difficulty finding a P/N or identification of any kind online to begin my search for the correct replacement part.  I assume I need the truck frame at very least, as the shaft the gear would ride on is gone.

I’ve read that other engines (GP-7, GP-38, GP-20, U38B) from the same era shared many components like the frame among other things.  If I cannot find the identical part, would any of these suffice?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks guys for the info!  I’ve already managed to find everything I’ll need for the repair.

I do have one question, if I may.  I realized late last night that my O27 Alco AA has identical trucks, and the dummy A unit has all the gear mounting provisions that the motorized units do. Are these acceptable to build up as motor units, and make my already broken motor units dummy trucks?  Also, is it advisable to get the PW 600-111 metal drive gears instead of the 8010-116 nylon ones?

Below is pictured top to bottom the dummy Alco A, the GP9, and the powered Alco A. They seem to be the same 8263-100’s to me...

thanks guys!305B3C59-DED4-4A4E-B9C4-B493CFE50A6FC2B021ED-72B1-41FA-B7D2-6931007F52D1
