A little over a week ago I purchased the polar express lion chief set and got it all set up everything working perfectly. A couple days ago I connected my kW to the track so that I could run some post war engines. Yesterday I disconnected the KW and reconnected using the standard wall wart for the LionChief. Now the polar express will not run.  None of the lights will come on on the cars and there is no power going to the locomotive. I used a voltmeter to verify that there was still voltage getting to the track and it is still showing 18 V I checked each track section as well as check the connectivity with my voltmeter. No matter what I do he will not run using the wall wart.  So I unhook the wall wart and reconnected my KW and everything works fine. What I don’t understand is why I’m still showing voltage and connectivity using the wall wart but nothing works. I hope this makes sense any help would be wonderful. The KW is just too big to sit under the tree with everything else.

I've had this issue too. I know you stated that you disconnected the KW. But did you physically disconnect the transformer from the track and not just the wall socket? Mine wont run either with a transformer connected to the track. It must be removed electrically or it wont run.

The other option is: leave the walwart in the box and just use the KW. Put the throttle to full speed and the PE will work just fine.
