Possible bad remote?

Is the TIU getting power thru fixed one when you're using variable 1?

Have you tried to tether the remote to the TIU?

TIU seems to be getting power, as the red LED inside is lit.  Have not tried to tether remote as of yet.

TIU will light when the WIU is powered and connected. However it won't be able to be used in that state. It must get power from either fixed #1 or the aux power jack!

Engineer-Joe, WIU currently is not connected to the system.  I did try to tether the remote, as well as change the batteries in it.  Nothing worked.

Disconnect the TIU from your layout. Keep the remote tethered to the TIU. Connect the TIU to only a straight piece of track with 1 engine on powered track and see if the system works.

Then, if you have the remote still tethered and you press read, what exact message do you get?

What is your track power source?

What is the exact engine you are testing with? PS2? Have you done a battery test on it?

Then if the system responds, do a track signal test.

When you first turn on the remote, what version of DCS is loaded in it?

What version of DCS is in the TIU?

It seems that both my TIU and Remote have outlived their days.  The Remote was running 4.3, along with a VERY erratic thumbwheel.  My TIU blew out the main board (not bad for a 10-year old component).  so my next step is to bite the bullet and get a new Remote Set (TIU + Remote).  With the newer version of the TIU, I won't have to worry about splitting cables up.  Gonna run me about $350 or so.  Time to start saving those pennies!
