I know this forum is for S Gauge but since its American Flyer I thought I would give it a shot.I'm looking for a diagram for a 1948 American Flyer HO 5318 Hudson 4-6-4.I'm trying to get this running for my brother inlaw for his father.It hasn't run in over 40yrs and he would like to get it running for him.I'm going to need some parts but I have no reference for part numbers.Any help appreciated.

The 1948 Gilbert HO Hudson is a DC engine so the prewar diagrams will not apply. The Pre-war HO engines used universal motors to run on AC and needed reversing mechanisms. Go to myflyertrains.net. The 1948 HO catalog is posted there so you can see the engine and trains sets. The Factory service manual is also the there and it has a DC Hudson engine diagram and parts list. The gilbertho.org site is also and the Gilbert factory service manual is cross linked from that site.
