Six steps for a photo, assuming you don't screw up

Then can you add additional photos

Seems to me the steps should be more obvious in each window that pops up

Still on the learning curve

I have no clue how a video from you tube  is uploaded,

You don't "UPLOAD" a video from YouTube. It is already "UPLOADED" to YouTube, so you can only embed it here.

If you have a video file ON YOUR COMPUTER, then the same 6 steps that upload a still image will upload the video.

Ok, for YouTube videos, here's what worked for me:

In the Post Reply pop-up, under the text window on the right is a link called "Toggle WYSIWYG".  Click that (once).

In a different browser window/tab, go to YouTube, and click the "Share" button under your video.  Then click the "Embed" button that appears.  The "iframe" code you need will automatically appear and already be highlighted in blue.  Use Control-C to "copy" it.

Come back to your new post on OGR, and "paste" (Control-V) the "iframe" code right into the text box, and click "Submit Reply".

Sounds harder than it is.  Just try it a few times, and it will become second-nature.

(Now, if we can just get YouTube to stop changing how you obtain the embed code...)

POSTING PICTURES - All it takes is 6 clicks.

  • Start a new post or a REPLY to an existing post.
  • Click on "Add Attachments" in the bottom left. The "File Chooser" window will open. (CLICK 1)
  • Click on "Upload Files" (CLICK 2)
  • Find the file you want on your computer, the click the OPEN button on that window. (CLICK 3)
  • Click the button which says, "Insert all photos and videos into post body (large size)" (CLICK 4)
  • Click "Finished" (CLICK 5)
  • Click "Submit Reply" (CLICK 6)

DONE.

Rich - are you aware of any restrictions on formats for uploading videos?  It seems there are a few that are causing the email notice that the video cannot be uploaded.  .MPG seems to be one of them.

Also - I think I read somewhere that 25MB is the maximum size allowed.  It does not take very much length of video to exceed 25 MB, especially if it's not compressed very well.  One of the nice things about uploading videos to a site like YouTube is that they will compress it very, very well, and this dramatically reduces the size of the file.

If people are trying to upload their "raw" videos, those files are going to be tremendous.

John, the size restriction for uploading videos is 100mb, its 25 for photo's.  But yes, I received an email that my video was not in the proper format.  How to correct this, I don't have the foggiest idea.

I believe Rich is about ready for a 6 pack of beer or a couple of good toddies after this day.  Sometimes what he knows is difficult for us to understand.

John

25 MB is the max file size for a still image. Video can go to 100 megs.

I'm not aware of any video format limitations, but I'll look into it.
