Power distribution boards

From this question you can gather I am not an electrical genius. Does it make a difference on whether I use a power distribution board from MTH (50-1014) or Miller Engineering (#4805) with a 12 V AC adaptor? I assume the adaptor is what matters for what I am lighting and the board acts as a convenient and neat way to wire multiple objects that require 12 volts. But I am not certain. Any advice is appreciated.
