Hi northeast railroad fans!

We’re in very early talks with @JR Junction Train & Hobby about a custom run of MTH Premier Rutland "Route of the Whippet" caboose.

It'll be two road numbers and we need to have interest of about 70.

Who’s in?

thanks!

We have already committed to building MTH Premier 35' Woodsided Caboose in New York Central and Boston & Albany railroads.   IF we can get firm commitments for 70 Rutland "Route Of The Whippet" 35' Woodsided Cabooses (35 of each road number) we will do a custom run of them.  The model caboose would be similar to the one pictured here:

The only way this will get made is if we get enough interest to make the run worth the investment.  This will look great on your northeastern USA railroad!  If we can reach 70 firm commitments before the deadline (T.B.A.) we will make them available.  Post here on this thread your comments.  Thank you!

Check out the Boston & Albany caboose thread for a update on upgraded details to be added to this new run of the MTH Premier 35' Woodsided Caboose!

The photo of Rutland no 28 shown at the Steamtown National Historic Site was taken by Kenny Ganz, who was a park ranger and photographer at Steamtown between 1988 and 2017. This photo dates to 1989.  The caboose was restored in the 1990s and displayed in the Technology museum at Steamtown in 1999.  STEA Technology Museum caboose 28

I don't have much information on the restoration process, or why they chose to leave off the "Whippet" markings on the caboose.  You can still go through this car just about any day. www.nps.gov/stea

Is this posted elsewhere? I’m sure there are people in other groups who would want them and could add the total.

I tend sometimes to get busy with everything that involves running upstate New York's largest model railroad store, I admittedly don't get around to all the various online forums and social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, twitter and what-not.  I don't even visit the forum (here) that I help support by being an sponsor as often as I should.

We certainly encourage and thank our customers and friends to help us spread our exciting news and announcements.  If I can ever help with photographs, information or simply using my phone number and store contact information, please reach out to me at junction@twcny.rr.com.  I welcome all the help I can get because there is no such thing as too much publicity!

Thank you!

So far, I count about fourteen people suggesting they will purchase 18 total Rutland cabooses on this thread.  18 cabooses is FAR BELOW the needed 70 firm commitments (35 of each road number) to get this project going.  I do not know how long we can keep this survey open, so if you or anyone you know is interested, please comment on here soon.

If I cannot get the minimum 70 commitments to purchase, I will let MTH know so they can open the Rutland road name reservation to another dealer.

Our custom run New York Central and Boston and Albany Cabooses are a go and here they are:

I think a very small percentage of the hobby is on this forum especially in June so I wouldn’t expect to see 70 commitments here. I’ve shared this with several folks who haven’t seen the thread. In an effort to help promote I’ve shared this in some Rutland fb pages and my small social media, hoping it helps

You are a gentleman and a scholar.
Thank you for trying to get the word out.
