premier sd60m problems im having

hi,any input would much be appreciated.

first proplem I had train would power up fine all lights sounds bells etc.but wouldnot go around track under power.i took battery out (original battery about 6 years old +).took a 9 volt plan battery and then went around track fine.

now I replaced it with a new battery part #bg-4000005 color green.now I noticed I threw a rubber tire and it will not go around the track at all. will one rubber tire cause this problem not to run around the track.it will move a little bit forward then stop.

How about we start with the the actual MTH product ID?

Have you checked to see if there's not crap in the truck gears? Check and tighten the motor mount screws under the trucks? The locomotive will run with any combination of traction tires, so that's not the issue.

Sounds like binding, so another tire is off stuck in side frame, or grit in gearing. With shell off you can rotate the flywheels by hand in both direction to see which is binding and to locate at what position. Then closely inspect gears. Anything in the recess can jam the tooth that needs to fit in the recess and lock motor up. G
