I have a Model K 150 watt transformer.  The power cord is badly cracked and the number 4 variable voltage port is dead.  Other variable voltage ports and all the fixed voltage posts are working and supply correct voltage.  Are these units serviceable?  I don't see any obvious way to open it up to replace the cord and solder connection to the dead variable port myself.  Any recommendations for a service center that can do the job?

Thanks.

There were a few variations on the K transformer. The earlier ones were in a cast iron body vs the later tin body. Some had the top retained with screws, the later ones tin tabs. They are likely filled with asbestos. Many shops don't service these older transformers. Shipping costs both ways generally makes repair of these units uneconomical, but my contact information is in my profile if you are interested in having me service it. If you post a few pictures of what you have, I and the other experts on the forum here may be able to help you through it so you can do it yourself.
