I rebuilt the e-unit on an American Flyer 470- the fingers were burned through in the centers. Now both motors run great in reverse but when it cycles to forward only the rear motor works.
Can anybody shed some light on this problem?
My next move is going to be isolating the bad motor from the e-unit and see if it runs in both direction by wiring it direct,

After re-assembly, did you manually click the pall and assure the drum gear advances smoothly? Also, while the drum is turning, assure all fingers make secure enough contact with the copper areas on the drum.

Sounds like the wires running to the front motor may be crossed up.
The wiring diagram happens to be in the Jan-Feb '16 SGaugian.
