Having problem with 5 out of 19 Atlas O #5 new switches being installed in a new layout. Points will move freely in one directions but not in the other. It’s like they are binding up some where but it doesn’t make sense that they would move freely in one direction but not in the other. Have tried everything with little to no improvement. Please help! Thanks!

I have more than 50 Atlas turnouts on my layout. A significant number of them have had the behavior you are describing. In all my cases, there has been a small burr in the plastic tie over which the points of the turnout must slide. Once I have found this burr and scraped it smooth with a hobby knife, the points have been free to slide as they should.
