Problem with intermittent sound in MTH GS-4

In order to verify if it's the tether or the engine connector, you'll have to remove the shell.  If it's the tether, you'll need a replacement tether, available from MTH Parts.  If it's the engine connector, normally a touch of a hot soldering iron does the trick on the pin that has the cracked solder joint.

Is there a specific color wire  or pin # that I could look for associated with sound to narrow my search for the problem?

Also, Is there a specific MTH tether number to order if I need a replacement?

A trick I like to do is fire up the engine with the shells off, then cut the lights out in the room, & wiggle the tether in the socket, if you have a cold solder joint, or cracked solder joint, you might catch it in the act, and see a tiny spark where it’s trying to make a connection, …..done that quite a few times….

There's no easy way to repair the tether, the break is almost always right at the connector bend.

You'll need one of two tethers if it's a bad tether.

If you have an internal plug connection in the tender, then you use this one.

If there is no internal plug, then you use this one and spice it into the existing wiring.

Visual inspection of the engine socket joints should be done.  No spark test PAT!  :-)  G
