I bought a new MTH Switcher Engine at York in April. Had problems with it just sitting idling. Took it to a local train shop. They found that the battery was dead. They replaced it with a new battery. It worked fine at the shop. I brought it home and I'm having problems with getting it to move again!!! All it wants to do is sit an idle!!! I read on this forum that it needed to be charged for 8 hrs. I ran it around this small circular track all day Sunday for 9 hrs!! Thinking this would take care of the problem; but it didn't!!! It still sits and idles!!! I'm running it with a older Lionel CAB-1 TMCC off a 110 watt transformer. TT

It's a SW 8-9. It ha Proto Sounds 2. The transformer is a Lionel RW 110 watt. I tried what SJC suggested about it "locking" up this evening. I checked the manual to see how to "unlock" it. I followed the instructions to the letter. It ran fine for about 5-6 times I shut it down and restarted it. I shut it down and went back about a half hour later and tried it and it's back to doing the same thing of just sitting there idling. I pushed the direction button several times; still with no movement of it.
Think I found my problem. It's a power problem!!! I took the loco off this smaller track I had powered with the 110 watt transformer. Put it on another track I have powered with a 180 watt power brick. When it was on the 180, it took off every time!!! I had a extra 180 power brick so I hooked it up in place of the 110 watt transformer. Has worked every time I've fired it up!! Thanks for your help guys!! TT
