...Heard a pop, and that was it. No more sound, no more response, no more engine.

What part blew, and what board do I need to order for replacement? What's the cost?

Engine item no. is: 30-1672-1

*Also, why is the smoke unit on this thing so puny for an MTH? It's like an old Lionel!

My guess to the smoke not being like a typical MTH unit is that most likely due to the size of the model, I'd bet that they couldn't fit a full size smoke unit in it. The video I've seen of the '16 premier 4-4-0s look to be a little puny too.

Most likely boiler board, but could be both. So anywhere from $60 to $220 in parts.
