this is a specific letter to John Sethian & Bob Heil, & anyone else interested in these specific PRR electrics.

On another forum there was a posting of a man in Hinsdale,(pleasant memories) who makes trains.  I am willing to contact this man re manufacture of one or both of these engines.  I am 80 and this is a last gasp effort on my part to obtain these engines.

Unfortunately Scott Mann apparently feels there is not significant interest.

I personally am in for 2 E-2b's and/or 2E2c's

How much interest is there in the form of cold hard cash?

TELL HIM TO NAME HIS PRICE for 2 E2b's.

With enough money, you could underwrite the production run, then sell the rest yourself?  Or enlist Sunset's marketing dep't?  You are taking the risk that Sunset is unwilling to take, and using their expertise.

I realize that 3 rail scale demands accurate models above the belt line, but isn't it possible to create semi-accurate models starting with an FA body?

Why not build it yourself its really not that difficult as I accomplished it. Take a Ep5 shell apply zona saw get a set of Fm trucks little effort and time.https://ogrforum.ogaugerr.com/topic/a-2-rail-use-for-lionel-ep-5-shells

Bob2  Alco  FA has a different shape.

sounds easy, but how close  is it to a scale E2b or E2c?

the two different models are quite different and had different exteriors and very substantially different electronics.

can you provide pix's of your model and comparison to original engines.  also how to do this.

I'm serious and not cage rattling for attention.

I am waiting patiently and hopefully for a reply from bob heil.

several moons ago when we did this previously, bob heil on 2 rail side indicated there were several  members who said they were serious about this.  in interim are they all deceased and am I and john sethian standing alone?

if there are more I need to know and also does anyone have prototype drawings of original engines?

Several years ago I put out a list at the shows I attend for Sunset inquiring about interest in these locomotives with the caveat that the one with two trucks rather than 3 would be the most likely to be made. I received a reasonable number of inquiries then guys started putting names like Mickey Mouse with a quantity of 10 locomotives.

At that point it became obvious that I could no longer depend on the sheet I displayed and nothing further came of it.

I am willing to spearhead a project for these electrics and may do so at the Pennsylvania Railroad T&HS convention later this week. This would have to be a brass project with an estimate of 100 locomotives minimum at a price above $1000 each. I am in for two. Are you still seriously interested?

Mike,

Not sure about the catenary wiring. 2 or 3 rail doesn't matter.  I see from your reply that you stated "12 car Silver Meteor". Do you have that or are you going to get a GGD one?

sort of bragging, several years ago I constructed a 12 car silver meteor, all correct cars in correct order.

I have to credit ted as he supplied o gauge shells with prototypically correct window placement and also supplied drawings of interior to correctly finish interiors.

a few of my cars unfortunately are budd and should be PS, including the sun lounge for the prr tunnels and catenary. grinding off the corrugations on roof etc. was too much.

plug  ok engines Mohawk NY is vendor ted is a great guy to deal with.

I had signed up as interested on that York sign up years ago. Based on what has been proposed, I'd be on the fence as whether to commit or not. If the E3b was included, I'd jump, as I'm fond of oddballs, and would probably get one of the E2s as well. With just E2s, I'd have to see what else is in the queue for acquisition.

I very may well be,  given to P:48 a PRR electric and string catenary is an achievable dream for me.. and having a PRR P48 steam railroad is not.
