Hi. I have a ps3 steamer with a oem boiler and tender board setup. It is not readibg the tach, no chuff and just full speed if you go fw or reverse. I have another ps3 steamer but a different model. Can I try to swap the boiler board between them to see if it’s the board or tach reader? I don’t know if board programming is loco specific.

You'll have to load the chain files for your locomotive to insure you don't get into trouble. Also, you need to check and see if the boiler board is the same version, there are EMI and non-EMI boards, they don't mix well. If the two boiler boards are the same size, you can try the swap, the EMI boards are about 3/16" longer than the non-EMI boards, so it's fairly easy to see which you have.
NO need to change flash code for that test, but as mentioned must be same EMI versions. BUT, I do not think I have run across a speed control issue on PS-3 steam that hasn't been the tach reader. So I would swap that first if the wiring to it is good. G
