I bought this engine from a forum member early this year and its been a bit of struggle.  It was my first MTH  purchase which kinda sucked but I've since bought a few MTH engines I really enjoy and I"m determined to make this one of them.   I 've included two videos of some of the issues we're having with it.  My repair guy says we need a new board.  It for sure needs something.   What do you guys think.   I cant remember exactly what he did to this engine initially but you can at least run it now.  Every so often the sounds go insane.  Have you ever heard PFA  announcements played though the variable whistle lol.  I have.  He ordered a board for it which is apparently out of stock so hopefully they get them back in soon.   I think this will be a great engine once we get it lined out.  One thing I did observe other than the sound issues.  I've lost control of the firebox glow and the interior light.   When I select them on the dcs remote nothing happens.  No on or Off messages.   after I reset the engine the firebox did come on.   But no such luck on the interior lighting.   Also this seems silly to ask but the firebox does Flickr with the chuff of the engine correct?  Mine does.  I just never noticed it before really.  Take a look guys your input always appreciated.   Please see video in below post.

My first guess, make sure the wireless drawbar is properly installed. double check and check again. Try a factory reset if drawbar is correct.

First thing we looked at.   I was sure it was the  drawbar after reading through the forum.  Checked connections on both ends and even tested it with different drawbars.   No change unfortunately.  That fix almost would have been to simple for this project lol.

It seems to me that the engine lost power from the track or a bad connection some where and the sounds quit to fast for the PS3 board to still be on. Bad capacitors or the PS3 board not charging them. When you push on it, the PS3 board has already lost power and it is coming up in conventional. The watch dog signal is only put out for seconds (more or less depending on DCS version) from the TIU.  So to bring it back to DCS, just push the START UP button. It won't fix it, but this brings it back to command.

Let it power up for 1 minute and then cut off the transformer. The sounds should continue for at least 6 to 7 seconds. Report back and someone will respond.

Thank you for your input. What  you described certainly makes sense.   I tried what you suggested tonight at home and have included a video.   I apologize in advance for the tjmaxx add and my family in the background making racket.  I cut off the power at the 1:09 mark in the video.   Seems to perform as expected.   I can test it on my club layout Thursday when I go by there.   I haven’t had the cutting in and out issue here at home since my repair guy took a look at it.   It wouldn’t make it a full loop around my office before he looked at the first time.   I have however had the sounds go nuts a few times here at home as well as our club layout.    When you just run it continually it seems to be fine but when your switching and starting and stoping that’s seems to be when all hell breaks loose.   Usually the sounds go haywire and then the cutting In and out begins.    If there’s anything else you guys would like to see it do please let me know.  I certainly appreciate your input .   And for what’s it worth we took a volt meter and went over all the trackage and got positive results and signal tested with this engine and other engines with all positive results.   I’ve tried several different engines in the same scenarios on our club layout and can’t duplicate the issue.  I’m not saying the club layout doesn’t have a fault somewhere but I’m not sure what I’m overlooking if it does.  Thanks again.
