I have a set of 2383 SF .  Olsens shows a blow up of 2343 horz. motor. The armature on mine is vertical down to the truck gears. Is this the same motor? Does horizontal refer to the field windings or the direction of the shaft. I would like to regrease and lubricate these as they havent been run in a few years. Also is there a basic electronic book to purchase , that would give the uses of things like diodes , relays . resisters and such. I would like to start on some circuits for leds and the like  Thanks   Tstark

The 2383 has 2028-100 motors in them. This motor is commonly used with the GP-7/9 road switchers. This motor is very different from the motors in the 2343 as the field, brushplate, and armature assemblies are very different in shape and contours.

If you look up the parts diagram for the 2028 you will find the motor and truck assemblies there for the 2383.
