This question I'm throwing out there to the forum is where can I buy interior pieces (plates, forks, and such) to detail my K-line 21" cars out?  I'm replacing the lights with LEDs and I want it to really pop. Any sources that could be shared would be greatly appreciated. Thanks keep the rails shiny!!

This is a good one....

So my answers are more vague than specific, but since I am unsure where you are on this (just looking into it for first time or well versed on many sources, just looking for additional input), I will assume just beginning to look.

There is (was) a person that used to go to York that sold European O Gauge.  Person was in the far right corner (literally) as you face Orange Hall from the lobby area.  Very nice units, mostly coach cars.  They has what you describe - maybe they were table lamps vs. candle, but same idea.  Perhaps this person could (would) sell parts?  Of course someone is going to need to ID who it is.

Michaels / AC Moore - they sell doll house items; not sure if the candles or dishes/utensils are the proper scale, but worth investigating.

Dave,

I have some O scale dishes (plates, cups, forks, etc.)  I picked up years ago for some of my scale length UP pass cars.  I will need to find them in my box(es) of detail/scenic materials.  But, I will look for them, think I know where they are, and let you know.  They are still not opened and in original packages, so the name and other information on the manufacturer should be there.

Hope this will help.......

Take care, God bless....

Jesse

Perhaps you could photograph a table top set with dishes and flatware and make copies for the O gauge table tops. I think in O a 12 inch dinner plate would only be 1/4 inch and the thickness of a punched out piece of cardboard or plastic. Flatware would also be pretty flat. cups and glasses could be made from plastic rod. And candles could be fiberoptic filaments painted white with the flame end left unpainted. Circus Craft (now out of business) use to sell dinner sets.

There was an excellent thread here on the forum by a fellow who detailed his dining cars with place settings, food, and light candles. But I do not remember who that was.

Not to take anything away from NelsonW: fantastic work, but the very best passenger car interiors I ever saw were done by forum member Dreyfuss Hudson, who has not posted here since 2009.  Not sure what happened to him.

Dreyfuss Hudson, the human, made intricate passenger car, dining, and kitchen car interiors, so detailed he even had the right labels on boxes of baking powder and such in the kitchen car.  You might find them useful with ideas.  He was extremely creative.  You can use the forum's search feature to find some of his postings - I know he did at least one dining car interior with tableware and all . . . I searched form members for his forum name and found this quickly, just a little bit down from his last posting.

Dave,

I hope you have followed the links NelsonW provided.  They are excellent, as is his craftsmanship.  Also, the older link provided by Lee Willis is a must see.  The source of 1/48 detailing provided by NelsonW is a company called "Metal Miniatures", and made in the USA.  I have picked up similar odd and ends pieces in local craft shops, such as Hobby Lobby, and also you can find some sold as charm bracelet trinkets.  These have been cast in metal and you simply have to trim off the extra loop for mounting on the bracelet.  It has become a habit with me to always scan the craft sections of stores for whatever seem appropriate.

Hope this helps and when I do find the dinner place settings I have, (in what box?) I will still provide as another source for all.

Take care and God bless....

Lee,

Great work. Interesting when folks just stop posting. Was on in January

(There is a drum kit in the background. Is it a friend of Dave?)
