Good Morning,

Using all of the pier pieces with the Lionel Extended Truss Bridge, will the bridge meet up with the height of the MTH Elevated Trestle ?  Can anyone tell me the height of the bridge track when all of the pier pieces are used ?  Anyone have photo showing this bridge with MTH Elevated Trestle ?

@IC Gulf are you talking about the MTH Elevated Trestles made for RealTrax or the newer version made for FasTrack?  Also what type of track would you be using?

I have some of both types of the MTH elevated trestles, the track brackets made for RealTrax are too narrow to go around FasTrack.  The clearance height under the bottom of  Fastrack fitted into the compatible trestles is 5 3/4" above the (ground/bench top).  Height from bench to the top of the rails is 6 11/32" (almost 6 3/8").

Sorry, I don't have the Lionel Extended Truss bridge for comparison.  If there's a significant height difference you could fashion shim blocks to go under some of the pier bases to compensate.

Steve, sorry I was not clear. I am using tubular track and like you, have both types of MTH Elevated Trestles. I know that the Lionel Extended Truss Bridge can be configured on its piers to match with either the PW tubular trestles or the Fastrack trestles, but was not sure about the MTH Trestle system. If the truss bridge is lower than the MTH Trestle then, yes, I could shim under the piers to raise the bridge. I guess the same could be said for the MTH trestles if they were lower than the bridge but I would not want to have to shim too may of them. My plan is to have about 20 feet of elevated track in an L configuration,  on a PW style layout. I like the look and height of the MTH trestle system much better than the PW Lionel tubular trestles. One concern that I have about the Extended Truss Bridge is that it may be oversized for a PW style layout. But it sure looks sweet !

@IC Gulf  I have a few of the MTH bridges.  Their track base height is ~ 1/4" higher than the elevated trestles.  If the Lionel ET Bridge height is comparable, shimming may not be necessary as this small grade should be fine, IF the grade change occurs into a straight track section adjacent to the bridge.  In other words, I've done some testing with this arrangement where the bridge attaches to directly to a 048 curve (leading into a grade change decline) and some Diesel Locomotive trucks (designed for O27 min curves) with very little vertical range of movement (front wheels down and back wheels up)  tend to derail by overshooting the outside rail leading into the curve.  My guess is that longer steamers could also have this issue.

If anyone tells you that the Lionel Extended Truss Bridge looks too big, just ask them to stand further back.
