Keep in mind that we share the trails with everything. This poor guy has seen one too many bikes roll across him.  Eastern Black Racer.  Commonly called Black Snake. You will find them most anywhere there are mice and rats. I remember my father's shoe one day I killed one in the barn.  He was upset/so expressed with his shoe to my backside.  Then he explained how valuable the snakes were to the farm/barn.  Learning was never easy for me.  



Note:   Where bikers stop for breaks, food is dropped, which attracts the small criters, squirrels, mice, rats, etc, which are snake food.  Leave no trace is important.  Another get lost Saturday in this area, there was discussion of a rattle snake den with another biker.  The rattle snakes on the trail made local newspapers.   Leave them alone and you be fine.  Heads up when you ride, one early morning a beautiful deer almost took me out.  Mike.   

Here are a couple. Don't have to worry about trains as most of the Redlands Loop in the San Bernardino Valley was abandoned some time ago and the last customer on the line shut down a few years ago. Trains haven't run this far East on the branch for some time, but I still kept an eye out just in case someone was joy-riding in a speeder or something.

A Bucket Loader. I'm not sure of the commodity involved as citrus was handled at various packing houses along the Redlands Loop and SP's Redlands/Crafton branch. The gate and bin in the siding have long since been filled in; the drive motor and other parts stripped out. The overall structure is still standing.

A long-closed business in East Redlands. The track on the right was an interchange to the SP Redlands/Crafton branch line.

Bridge footings from a long-gone SP bridge across a creek in East Redlands. The line paralleled the ATSF Redlands Loop toward Mentone. The ATSF tracks veered North further down while the SP tracks continued East.

Trackside at the Redlands Depot. They've been trying to re-purpose the depot and have managed to preserve it. It's one of the more beautiful depots in Southern California.

This is all that is left of the NKP Clover Leaf north of the former PRR tracks in Delphos, Ohio. 

There are still a few miles of NKP Clover Leaf tracks left to the west of Delphos.  This photo is just west of town.  The siding serves an agribusiness.

At the west end.  The grain facility in the distance is the end of the line for the Clover Leaf.  The line is now serviced by the CF&E.

Here are some for my entry.  First is the Fort Lauderdale Amtrak/Tri-Rail Station from September 9, 2010 and the second is aboard the Amtrak Southbound Silver Star on October 31, 2010 in Harve de Grace, MD as the train has just finished crossing the Susquehanna River.

I was looking on google maps and came across this above. When the map image opens zoom in on the map image. On the bridge you'll notice 5 cars from a train and also look at the bridge, it rises. So the topic still refers to this. It's funny what the imagery does.
