According to the Lionel parts diagram, the Neil Young series F-3 powered B units (Legacy) have "RailSounds Lite" electronics. Probably some other engines do as well. Does anyone know the difference between Legacy RailSounds and RailSounds Lite?

I think I'd heard somewhere that the sound systems (RailSounds Lite) in the NY powered B units have a quillable whistle, but lacked a bell function. Seems odd this would have been left out, particularly if the same module is being used in other engines. I was going to order one of these powered Bs, so I was curious about what sound functions they have (or don't have).

Re: lack of bell sounds, I found the reference I was thinking of: 

 

I have the Neil Young PRR powered B unit.  It does indeed have Legacy Railsounds.  RPM ramp, quillable horn, coupler release, air release sound for smoke, direction change, shutdown, squealing brakes.

It does not have bell or any talking.

Oh, I thought you had a question about the board itself.

Would that Pennsy F3 B unit have had a bell? Maybe it is not that the board can't handle it, rather that the unit would not have had one, or one operating while in a consist. Like there wouldn't have been a crew talking on a radio either. I'd love to have B units without the crew talk!
