Hi Everyone,

I recently painted some parts to a building and some detail pieces. In doing this the can was still over half full when I was done. I went back to use the paint again, and with an almost full can the paint will not come out when I press the nozzle. This has happened with two cans most recently. Is there a fix to this or do I just need to dispose of those cans? I might add this isn't the cheap stuff, it's Krylon.

An increasing number of cans are equipped with an internal mechanism that allows them to be used while upside down. Obviously the traditional "spray upside down" technique won't work with these cans. Their instructions say to wipe the spray orifice with a rag instead. I am a little surprised that this works, but it seems to.  I have taken to doing this with all types--it appears to have a better success rate than the upside-down spray, even with conventional cans.

Had the same problem, over and over again.

Here is what Krylon suggested:

"spray paint can nozzles clogging. If you have not done the following, please try my recommendations to hopefully revitalize our product:

1.) Turn the can upside down (with the nozzle away from you) and shake for at least a minute.

2.) Soak the nozzle in a solvent like lacquer thinner, paint thinner, or acetone (if you have these solvents available).

To extend the life of aerosol cans, store them upside down when not in use."

Thanks for everyone's input and suggestions. One thing I did learn was that I need to turn the cans upside down when not in use.

I have soaked the nozzle in thinner, nothing. I have turned the can upside down after shaking and tried to spray, nothing. I will repeat the process tomorrow but if it doesn't work I guess I have to make a trip to the store.
