Hello,

With the sudden demise of Weaver, I am very concerned. In the last few years, I bought several wonderful high-end Weaver engines including a

Milwaukee Road "Little Joe", Hiawatha, S-3, etc.

I am just getting ready to start building my layout. However, will I even be able to continue operating/repairing if need be, these beautiful engines?

I did reach out to Joe at Weaver but still am waiting for a reply. I am concerned because I want to run these beautiful engines for some time but not sure what I will do in the future.

Any thoughts from our more seasoned train guys?

Regards,

Ron W.

Any competent Lionel Service station can take care of the electronics. As for mechanical parts get proactive and keep the gearbox and bearings lubed. About the only normal wear item to be concerned about are traction tires. You should be able to source the correct sizes from Lionel or MTH. Maybe its time for Weaver owners to form a sub group to exchange information about this much like other collectors of obsolete machines.

There is nothing obsolete about Weaver or any other Engine with a can motor drive. Electronics can be replaced. The gears would be the big issue if you do NOT lubricate them. Oil and Lubricate as per the oem instructions of the locomotive and you will be fine!
