Just purchased this Reading LionChief® Plus GP7, Lionel no. 6-84110, at YORK form Charles RO. Works great but while using Lionel Chief remote and put it in forward mode it goes in reverse and visa versa. Also to use front coupler rear one goes off and visa versa. Is this because of the wires to the motors is in the wrong hook up or something else. Otherwise I have no problems with this engine. Thanks for your response.

Which end of the GP7 do you consider the front (long or short hood)? It may not be the same one that Lionel programmed as the front.
Call Ro and ask them about it. It looks like, from pictures of the Lionel model, that the engineer figures are looking, more or less, toward the short hood end. It may be, however, that the Reading ran their older Geeps long hood forward (see photo below). Maybe for prototypical operation you should turn the crew figures so they're looking out the correct end. My guess is that Lionel made it to run short hood forward, and some wiring got reversed. On Lionel's scale Geeps, the crew figures face the direction that the particular railroad ran their Geeps.

I guess Laz needs to elaborate whether its running long or short hood forward to know if its really an issue.
In the Lionchief GP7's the crew members tend to face more out to the side than to the front or back. I did find a pic showing some reading GP7's running long hood forward.
Hi GUYZ,
I was informed by a railroad man that there is a "F1"or just an "F" on the deck above the steps and that indicates the intended front of the loco. Some were designated long hood front and others short hood front. Also there would be a"2", the was designated for the rear of the loco. Right now I will run it that way. Thanks for your help.
