I recently purchased a new old stock modern version of the Mercury Capsule Launching car (81723). I noticed when launching it the rocket would not go much further than 18 inches. I attempted to see if the spring tension could be increased but unfortunately the pins holding the release mechanism fail out when I was tinkering with it.

I understand that the little black tab is supposed to stop the plunger from releasing when enough rearward pressure is applied. This pressure is released when the uncoupling plunger is released on the bottom. What I do not understand is how the spring goes in on the pin furthest away from the plunger assembly. Unfortunately I could not find any diagrams or pictures of it online.

I was wondering if anyone knew how this was supposed to go back together, or had a picture of one assembled correctly.

Lastly, does anyone know how to increase the spring force?

Thank you,

-Nathan
