Hey everyone just curious if anyone knew where to find red marker lights that would fit an MTH Genesis loco. I wanted to know because the green marker lights on the front of mine really bother me lol.

The lights would have to fit in the holes where the old green marker lights are currently mounted. For those wondering, the loco I'm working on is MTH 20-2529-1.

One thing that would be really helpful is if the marker lights came with a power plug because I really don't want to have to solder it myself.

Any help is much appreciated.

Amtrak locomotives used in push/pull operations (e.g. the Hiawatha) have red marker lights that are on as tail lights when the P42 is pushing with the "cabbage car" in the lead.

I have the same locomotive and did what you are trying to do.  You can order from MTH parts their part# CE-0000030 Which is the red version of the green LEDs the units were shipped with.  Unfortunately, they do not have the plugs on them.  You can either cut and solder the plugs from the current green LEDs or or you can  order plugs from All Electronics  and solder them.  Both the LEDs and the All plugs have 3-4" of wire on them.  The part# for All is SBC-2.

There have been tutorial posts regarding soldering on the forum.  The solder work can be done outside the locomotive.  Solder and and some heat shrink tubing to protect the joint and you will have your red marker lights for Amtrak locomotives used in push/pull operations.

For what it's worth, there should NEVER be red CLASS LIGHTS on the front of ANY locomotive, unless it is backing up. The red "marker lights" would be on the rear of the train, like on the caboose. The green color in the Class Lights indicate that a second section of that train is following.

Yes, the red lights are for when the engine goes in reverse. It is an Amtrak locomotive so Push-Pull is common.

The lights are Lumex 2mm ceramic LED's available in red, green, and yellow, all in stock at Digikey.

Thank you for the help! I'll make sure to try both and get them installed. Better to get new tail lights and a Proto 3 board than spend 500 on a brand new loco, even though they are really nice.
