Hi, everyone.  We have just entered the next decade of the 21st Century. While I know there are many retrospectives on what has happened over the past year and the past 10 years, this is a thread where we can share some of our real world photos from the past 10 years.  I am referring to the Digital Decade, in that I was shooting on slide and print film longer than many of my friends.  However, with my getting a digital camera on my first iPhone in 2008, and my first DSLR in 2009, this meant that it was so much easier for me to load pics onto forums like OGR and others.  No more scanning a print, then sizing it, and going through a photo source to post on here.  In 2011 or 12, when OGR no longer needed a host site like Photobucket or Flickr, keeping up with these threads was a lot easier.

I won't be posting all of my stuff, but thought that this decade in review could help us curate the various changes and events we have captured since 2010.  Here are some of mine.

R&N In Taylor, PA

This is a Reading & Northern local crew, traveling through the Taylor, (PA) yard to reach a warehouse in the Keyser Valley section of Scranton, about 2 miles away.  No. 3055 is an SD40-2.  This was October, 2010.

Opening Weekend at Strasburg, 2011

For President's Day Weekend in 2011, I met up with some friends to chase the Strasburg Rail Road for opening weekend.  They are only closed for a few weeks, but the opening is a good chance to get out and experience railroading again. Santa Fe 3751

On May 14, 2012, I was in California and Arizona chasing the Santa Fe 4-8-4 no. 3751 through the desert.  The steam special was part of a way to celebrate the 100th anniversary of statehood for Arizona.  The train ran from Los Angeles Union Station to the Grand Canyon station and return.

Now in Scranton, it is November of 2013, and the Delaware Lackawanna is hauling a freight on the elevated trackage in the downtown.  Crossing South Washington Ave, the train passes the old Mall at Steamtown sign.

On December 23, 2014, a drive in the country brought me to this old station, which once served the Lehigh Valley Railroad.  This is in Noxen, PA.

That is five pics so far.  More are on the way.

Original Post

Maybe a Mac user can help me on this.  When I go to post photos, those that I can find in the Photos app don't always come up for posting.  The above post is a good example.  I had four or five shots of the LV station in Noxen, but only one was available to select for this post.  I have about 16,000 photos in my files, and feel like only a few hundred are available to use.  Does anyone else have this problem?  I am using a Mac Mini, if that is any help, and my photos are connected to the iCloud.

Thanks.  Anyway, here is 2015.

I am at Newark, DE, and rail fanning with the RailCamp East kids.  We were shooed off this platform by the station agent, because he thought we were scaring the SEPTA riders as they got off the train.  So, we moved to the opposite side of the tracks.

Just before Easter in 2016, I rode and chased the Jersey Central Lines 0-6-0 no. 113.  This is a beast of a switcher.  It is roaring past the Schuylkill Haven, PA train station.

Shooting from the Blue Ridge Parkway over the old Norfolk & Western route, I caught N&W no. 611 leading an excursion based out of Roanoke, VA.  This was Memorial Day weekend, if my memory serves correctly.

October of 2018 brought this photo rugby as part of a celebration train on the Stourbridge Line, based out of Honesdale, PA.  FP9 no. 9880 and BL2 no. 54 lead the train over a newly cleared portion of the rail line, where a power line will cross. I think the poles are in the route, now.  The celebration was the 45th anniversary of the Lackawanna & Wyoming Valley Chapter of the NRHS and the Fall conference we were hosting in Scranton.

Finishing off the decade with this shot of an Acela in Washington Union Station.  For RailCamp, we take a regional Amtrak train from Wilmington to DC, and tour the station, plus have dinner.  We take the Acela back to Wilmington.  That is a whirlwind tour of my decade.  I plan to post a Steamtown-only version, too.  If you like the idea, please take the thread, and post your past 10 years on the rails.

Happy New Year.
