I know removal of lettering from locos and rolling stock with damaging the underlying paint has been covered innumerable times before and I have had success using Testors Easy Lift Off on some items and not so much on others. I seem to remember that certain MTH lettering was harder to remove than others products. Has anyone tried removing the lettering or numbers from one of these little critters? If you have what worked best for you.

As a matter of fact I just finished this one a couple of weeks ago. This is a WBB I did in Boston & Maine. It was Pennsylvania. I used a pink rubber pencil eraser to take off the bottom lettering and the cab number. I didn't have to do a complete repainted. After using the eraser it leaves a bit of a dull mark but I overs prayed it with Testors dull coat then added my decals. After the decals set and dried I hit it with dull coat one more time. You can see the result. "Be careful" of the hand rails if your going to remove them. If you "Breath"on them the wrong way they'll break! WBB does have replacements you can order on the website.
Thanks Chris. I'm looking to convert the same Pennsy 44 tonner into an Alaska RR version. So the Pink Pearl got the lettering off? I once used an electric draftsman's eraser to remove Lionel Lines from a conventional 0-8-0 when the first came out with the new starter set 0-8-0s. Left that same dullness but I didn't have to repaint.
Try a Mr Clean Magic Eraser. I used it to remove lettering on a Lionel passenger car & MTH RDCs that I turned from B&O to CNJ. Took the lettering right off & didn't damage the paint.
Thanks Christopher. I've used the Magic Eraser before and had success. I know some have had to use a lot of elbow grease with the ME so I figured I'd ask if anyone has down this specific engine before to see what would work the best before I start.
