Rensselaer Polytechnic to move their huge scale model of railroads and streets of Troy NY in the 1950s to new environs.

I'm pleased to see that this outstanding model railroad will be preserved and made accessible to the public.

Very good news indeed. Any model railroader whose not familiar with this amazing model railroad would do well to visit it once it gets moved to it's new location. Fantastic is putting it mildly.

This is good news if in fact true, I've never seen it but it's on the bucket list of things to do. Last Email I received from those taking care of the layout a month ago was it was to crated up and put into storage somewhere. Good news keep us posted.

It is wonderful that this very famous model railroad will not be lost.  The relocated layout may be better than the original.  NH Joe

Hello all, I'm a recent RPI grad, club member, and was the resident dispatcher for the past few years operating sessions. We're very excited by this move, but it will take some time to put the railroad back together. The entire railroad, several hundred linear feet, was cut into approximately 6 foot sections to remove it from its former basement home  (and is in temporary storage). It does appear we'll have more room, and from what I understand some very interesting projects are in the works.
