Hello all

I took my B&O AlCo PA off the shelf for a run yesterday and it would not go. It turned out that the plastic worm gears on the armature shaft are cracked and spinning on the armature shaft. Lionel does not list any documentation for this loco that I could find. This is from around 1981 when they were still building pullmore motors but equipping them with dual wound field coils.

Does anyone here know if a postwar armature with real metal gears will work in this motor system?

Are there replacement gears for this armature?

Thanks.

Yes buy yourself metal worm gears. They fit the late armatures.  Sometime ago one of my Gilbert pa's armature failed. I had some late armatures with the nylon gears. I removed the nylon gears and reused the metal gears from defective armature. The Pa chrome silver flash ran and runs very good. Try it.
