Replacement wheels for trailing truck?

I recently bought the grooved Gription drive wheel assembly from AM to install in my NH Pacific. After almost 3 months the black electrical tape I put on the motor cover is still firmly in place.

Replacing the rear drive wheels took less than 10 minutes, the only trick is to make sure the small gear does not lift out of place when rotating the rear drive wheels. It is a worthwhile modification, it adds a lot of traction and is much better than trying to glue thin bands on the non-grooved drivers.

After a pretty long respite from the Chippewa locomotive today I tried a couple things, one the Gripton wheels went to the rear position on the locomotive. From what I can tell, it doesn't seem to have changed the height if the rear of the engine, if it did it's not enough that these old eyes can see it. The second thing, I applied the Kapton tape to the bottom of the chassis. these two changes have made a better operating locomotive, no arcing is seen anywhere that I have run it. I do want to thank everyone that gave some input on this problem, I'm a happier Chippewa owner now.

Dave, I hope you are doing better, hospitals are not one of my favorite lodgings.

I received the trailing truck this week but, haven't had a chance to check the fit. Those spoked wheels would sure look nice on an inside frame trailing truck.

I need to check the references you had mentioned in an earlier post. Thanks for sending the truck, when I get to check out the fit I'll let you know how it works.

Ray, I am curious what you actually ended up with.  Did you go with the Precision Scale wheelset?

Tom, No final decision yet, above I mentioned using Kapton tape as at least a temporary fix. Dave K. sent me a trailing truck with scale wheels, the wheels are spoked, which fits for the Pioneer Limited. I may see if l can disassemble the truck to use the wheels on an inside frame truck as the PL had, see picture in an earlier post.

Sorry Tom, l thought l posted a picture, old age l guess. I only posted a link.

I was able to remove the axle wheel assembly from the trailing truck frame without destroying the truck. My intension is to make an  inside frame truck from styrene and clean up the spoked wheels and either paint or plate them to fit with the Pioneer Limited scheme.

In reference to our conversation, on the trailing truck wheel set, one side of axle is insulated. In using on truck made of styrene, should be no problem.

I was sent a trailing truck, see previous post, by Dave K. which has spoked wheels, was able to remove axle assembly, will use on an inside frame trailing truck which I need to make.

Did you get volume increased on your Flyerchief locomotive using the remote as I mentioned?
