Replacing Roof on Polar Express Conductor Announcement Car | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I just got a Polar Express Conductor Announcement Car and would like to replace the roof with one with snow on it to match my other cars. I have three questions:

1. It looks like a simple procedure to remove the roof but no matter how hard I squeeze on the four windows, the roof doesn't budge. I don't want to break the thing! Is there a secret to roof removal?

2. After I do remove the roof, can I remove the the translucent part with the silhouettes from the roof itself so I can put it on the new roof?

3. While I don't plan on needing any for quite a while, I can't find the exact replacement lamp part nos. listed in the instructions. Are they 18v lamps?
