Lionel 6-18424 Track Inspection Vehicle

 

This motorized vehicle is labelled as an On-Track Pick-up Truck. It operates forward only using conventional control using either AC or DC voltage.  The pickup includes front and rear operating lights.

 

Note: The pickup has been modified to include "CSX Transportation" labeling on each door.

Additional photos of the mechanism with the cab removed.

 

The cab can be removed for maintenance purposes as shown.  A planned modification is to replace the "lamps" with constant intensity LEDs.  Also a small battery and ON/OFF switch will be added to allow the LED headlights to remain on when the vehicle is not moving.

Just curious,

 

Why not wait to do the modifications on it first, chronicling the steps from start to finish, and then post the topic?  Sometimes you post these "reviews" before you do your mods on them then the posts become stagnant for days and quickly disappear off the 1st page and sometimes you create a completely new thread about it or what amounts to a similar item.
