MTH 20-91224 N-6B Caboose w/Operating Signal Man.

This O scale model first appeared in the 2006 Volume 2 catalog. This unique caboose includes an operating signal man who leans out the side of the rear caboose platform with a lighted lantern to signal the engineer. Activation occurs whenever the transformer whistle button is pressed. The MTH 20-91224 caboose is modeled after a PRR prototype N-6B.

This MTH model is painted yellow with B&O markings. The B&O had similar wood caboose types but it is very unlikely ever had an N-6B.

MTH car numbers were C2623 and C2198. Shown is car number C2198.

Note: A second similar MTH B&O N-6B caboose model with car number C2623 has been modified by removing the B&O markings and repainted as a PRR yellow MOW caboose.

I have to agree with Barry and Martin the purpose of a review by a poster is his opinion of the item being presented. if no opinion is given the thread should ask " What are your opinions of......." Time to get off my soapbox.

i have the N6b PRR Cabin Car with singleman and love it. It is always a hit at my clubs (BDSME) open houses. I violated one of my rules about buying PRR Cabin Cars that one being it must have train phone antennas. This one did not but the single man was enough for me to pick it up at York.

MTH putting the B&O name on a N6b is not the greatest sin a manufacturer has done. I am a Pennsy guy so I would not buy one in B&O or any other road. But if you like it go ahead and buy it. Make up a story that the B&O bought a few from the PRR.

I like the signalman cabooses, and this one would be great to me if it was red!

I pre-ordered the MTH 20-91444 Baltimore & Ohio N-6b Caboose (Premier) out of the 2015 catalog.  I knew it was a Pennsy thing, but I was looking for a woodside, and this fits the bill for me.  The cupola looks a bit different on the 2015.  Can anyone enlighten me on the authenticity or changes over the years of the N6B?

I agree with you, it's just that MTH made that claim about the Premier line (I didn't).

The N6b evolved out of the need to fit in narrow tunnels, particularly on the Panhandle Division.  I believe the N6b was created from re-built ND cabin cars.  The N6b was rebuilt by divisions, hence the difference in cupola locations.  Some were centered, while others were offset.
