Is there any way to go right to the recent post using that column instead of having to wade through pages of posts to get to the recent one?

If I understand your question correctly, try just clicking on the post you want to read and you'll be taken directly there.
I don't understand your question.
When i click on the recent post link, it takes me to the top of the thread, instead of the most recent post.
Ah...the light bulb just went on over my head...
Clicking the links will take you to the top of the thread. Hit the "END" key on your keyboard and that will jump you right to the bottom of the page and the most recent post.
Works like a charm.
Oh...there's no end key on my iPad...in fact, there's no keyboard unless I try to post. The use of the pad for the forum is actually pretty unsatisfactory. Another issue I have is having to continually reload the page twice whenever loading a new page...or I can't see anything below the screen size or scroll down.
And the app available is for the iPhone which is pretty lame on the pad.

I am using my iPad to post this reply. Several of you have said something about the need to load a page twice in order to see the whole page. That has me puzzled, because on my iPad 2, everything works fine the first time.
I also have an iPad 1 here, and it works OK, too.
Maybe I need to get rid of an app, or reload the op system...but then I thought if anyone else experiences this reload issue too, and some do, then I'm puzzeled.
