I doubt it would be a viable business proposition. The market is small, and tooling costs would be substantial. Traditionalists will stick with regular tubular (preferably USA Track and Ross switches rather than the Chinese junk now being imported by MTH) and those who want something more modern or realistic will go with Gargraves or the new MTH Standard Gauge Realtrax. Standard Gauge is a niche market in the first place and I don't see any room for a fourth or fifth track option.

Of course one can't buy what isn't offered, but Realtrax reportedly is selling quite well.  And tooling may well exist as Lionel featured a new Standard Gauge track -- made by K-line -- at the NY Toy Fair for the Hiawatha launch.  I would choose the pricey Phantom Stainless by Gargraves for a layout.  They had a great display at York a few years ago with the Commodore roaring around the booth.

I ordered enough Super Snap track for my entire layout after testing out an oval. Arrived very promptly and well packaged. I'm extremely pleased with the track, it's easy to put together, my rolling stock runs very smoothly on it, and it seems very quiet.

Walter, any update on when we can expect the 072 Turnouts?

Thanks.

Well I just ordered my $200.00 worth and I ordered for an unplanned/unconfirmed "future" layout!   More $$ than I ever spent on track before (remember, I currently use 027!). In order to use at some point down the road I will have to start COMPLETELY over, including benchwork! But with the economy the way it is at least I will have the track to start over with down the road should something happen! What threw me for a loop is when I looked at the list prices of around $9.00, $10.00, and even more per section. Granted the sale prices are great but I would never consider this if I had to pay anyway near the list prices shown. As for the earlier talk regarding shipping my order was quoted at $52 and change.
