Christmas is almost here, so its a good time to start decorating some rolling stock for a Christmas train.

My thoughts are:

> To paint Christmas trees on the sides of a boxcar and decorate the trees with LEDs;

> To mount a decorated 3" tall Christmas tree on a flat car and light it with LEDs;

> To put a Christmas tree on the back platform of a heavyweight observation car.

For those of you who already have Christmas rolling stock, lets see them. Otherwise please share your Christmas rolling stock ideas on this post.

Locomotive 2141 was built as a coal-burning engine in 1912 in Kingston, Ontario for the Canadian Northern Railway and is the only survivor of the 25 constructed. The 2-8-0 originally hauled freight, passenger and mixed trains on the prairies. It was converted to burn oil in 1948 and spent its last years of service on Vancouver Island until 1958 when it was retired by the Canadian National. The railroad was going to scrap the engine, but was saved when the city of Kamloops paid $2000 to deliver it for public display.

We named our family elf on the shelf "Jingles" and I think we will start a tradition that he comes on a thanksgiving Eve (so tomorrow).  Jingles usually flies back and forth to the North Pole to report on my 2 and 5 year old's behavior....but the first day he comes, he arrives on a gondola.....

just a kit bashed Lionel gondola I spray painted in whatever the red cranberry type spray paint that AC Moore has.  I then had our neighbor donthe lettering since she does outdoor vinyl lettering.  A bit of an overhang but does the trick.

Happy holidays!IMG_1336
