I have been asked to make a Control Panel using the Z2500 switch motors.  The idea is a Control Panel using a drawing of the track plan, and using toggle switches and LED's on each of the track legs.  With the LED glowing green to show the direction of the switch, then change color to red when the switch is reversed.  My primary concern is whether or not the 2500 motor will operate without the push buttons.  Also intending to wire into a Lionel SC2 OR DCS and the AIU's.  Anyone aware of any problems using SPDT switches and the LED's?

Thanks for any replies!

Hi,

I wouldn't use the single pole switches The switch machine are not designed that way.

It looks like you want to lights on a control panel there is a way to do that.

Just run wire form your switch machine to your control panel.

Good luck, John

Doesn't this show it? Control the LEDs with the relay.

The DZ-2502 switch controller uses a single wire for control of the small computer in the DZ-2500 Switch machine.  The DZ-2500 can be reprogrammed to use two wires for use with an AIU on DCS layouts and with a toggle switch.  I believe you can use an SC2 also in this mode.  I also believe you lose the TMCC capability inherent in the machine when you do this.
