I made some progress on the roundhouse yesterday. I used a spring/pad system for getting electrical contact to the lights. This way, I can just lift the structure off of the base without much trouble. I also made some hoods for the stacks.

I'm interested in this too, as I have a need for such a system in one of my models. Did you make the pieces from scratch, or did you obtain the spring/leaf/pads from somewhere?
