I purchased a new AlienWare PC with Windows 10 and successfully installed my RRTrack version 5.3 with all libraries. It was working well in Creators edition until the recent Windows build 15063.296.  Now it crashes when starting the program while "Initing Inventory...." I've sent an email to Russ at RRTrack but wanted to check here to see if anyone else is experiencing any problems with Windows 10.

If you don't have a touch screen, you don't need Windows 10.

Rich, I agree 100%. Windows 7 is superb and I would love for it to be my last operating system I ever use. Unfortunately, it's expiration date has been set by Microsoft, January 14, 2020. That will be a sad day.

I reinstalled the main update pack and rebooted the computer after the creator upgrade, same build number. I was getting crashes. Check all of your track and accessory modules to ensure that you have the latest versions.

Rolling back updates that contain the latest security patches is not the best choice. I love RRTrack but my system is used for business too. Security is important especially considering the current situation. I can always reinstall on one of the other computers on my network but this one is an Alienware with lot's of ram and a kick-butt graphics card. RRTrack on a 34" ultrawide monitor is especially nice!

Well I found the problem. RRTrack 5 is set to automatically open the last file used. I renamed that file so it would fail to find it and that allowed me to select another file and it is working fine. The file must have been corrupted. I've always had some issues with both versions 4 and 5. Under just the right conditions, and after you've made a bunch of changes (usually without saving!), the program crashes. Auto backup and recovery helps a lot but I've learned to save and rename often! Ok, back to finalizing the layout so I can finish building bench work and lay some track!

Ok, last post on this subject. I forgot to update the track and accessories libraries when I fully reinstalled RRTrack 5.3. Once I updated all the libraries the program is functioning fine and I can again reopen that last layout automatically. Still have no idea why it crashed in the first place but it's working just great in Windows 10 Creators Edition and that's all that matters.

You must have WRITE permission for the folder in which you are saving the layout file.
