Wow - a fast-growing thread. I too have a weakness for these Lionel scale cars (and others, too) from back when I was a kid. Though - I had only seen them in photos, then.

I have a couple, one re-painted for GM&O (they had similar cars in fuel service). Now I have to have more...thanks a lot.

(The 3/16" scale Marx metal tankers, re-trucked, can give you a similar bit of pleasure. Re-paint or leave alone. Nice detailing. There were actually tankers that approximated that size when measured in 1:48.)

They are nice cars and easy to redo. O scale decals for any type car are getting hard to find though.

Arent we just printing them on InkJets these days?

Yes for many that is true but a few of us old guys haven't caught up yet so store bought decals did the job quite nicely and there WAS many to choose from.

I'm being tempted by those print your own decal gods it give it a shot.  Looks like you can get 25 sheets of decal paper for about $25 so you could potentially print a ton of decals for the cost of a couple of sets of old decals....I have a bunch of cars that could use decals too....

The one issue that would be a problem is that white cannot be printed easily unless you have a special kind of printer that is designed to print white.
