I think the difference is, SC2 accepts the TMCC/Legacy signal without being hard wired into the layout? The ASC2 is hard wired and daisy chained with the ability to add others.  My layout is all Cab 1/Cab 2 controlled, I utilized the ASC’s, BPC’s which are hard wired into the layout and daisy chained together. These are the first ones offered, a little different from the ASC2, BPC2.  Now, the SC2 and the ASC2 can be a great electronic switch to operate your switches/turnouts, and most accessories via Cab 1 or Cab 2.    Simply read the directions on each. Good luck and have fun with these helpful alternatives to powering our layouts.

Not sure I understand the difference between these two components. I’ve read description in Lionel’s Track and Power brochure, but I’m still unsure. Is the SC2 only for TMCC? I have Legacy system, so does it work with it?

As always, in advance I thank you for your expertise.

Yes the SC2 will work with Legacy.  The biggest difference is the SC2 takes it's command signal like an engine from the "over the air" RF signal and the ASC2 takes it's signal from the PDI bus.  The SC2 can do a combination of switches and accessories but the ASC2 can do either switch or accessories but not both.  The SC2 has discrete commons for it's relays where as the ASC2 does share commons.
