It reminds me of the later plastic battery powered outboads of the 50s or 60s. I think Lionel may have dabbled in that market too. The outboard was tunable, removable, and moveable from boat to boat if I recall.

It's also a famous design type for a Criscraft runabout/racer. It "should be" mahogany decking

I was referring to it being a blatant copy of Lionel's prewar runabout.

These Nautico 3001 Clockwork boats are indeed a replica of the Lionel speedboat , they even said as much in their marketing and company info ( no doubt with a payment to Lionel in the process)

However they are I believe a high quality modern replica ( as opposed to Schylling etc) with regard to Lionel licensing ... they were made in 1999 as a kind of "We're Back!!! " enterprise when Schuco was bought out by the Simba-Dickies Group and revitalised into todays company ( the original Schuco went broke in 1976 and was revived and lost a couple of times before the 1999 to current ownership )

Interestingly these boats fetch just a little less than a real Lionel speed boat secondhand.

I dont have either however I wish I did ( they are on "The List" )
