SD40-2 Cab Shell | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Can a Mth SD40-2 cab shell be installed on any other train chassis other than a SD40-2 ?

I have a chance to purchase a cab shell and was wondering what mth trains it would fit on or does it have to be a SD40-2 ?

I just installed a MTH Premier SD40 shell I purchased "loose" on another Premier SD40 chassis - worked fine. Even the lighting wiring matched. I was lucky on the wiring. This may not always be the case.

The shells have to be for the same type engine - they are not interchangeable. Also Railking will not fit right on a Premier chassis either. Premier to Premier and Railking to Railking.
