20200112_14291920200112_142952Today I was running my CSX SD70 and the rear pilot broke. I believe it was fractured or had a bad casting.

Anyways,  I'm looking for a replacement.  Does anyone have one for sale or know where to look? I haven't had a whole lot of luck so far.

Thanks for the responses here guys.

After I posted the first post, I started reading one of @Rusty Traque post about fixing the pilots. I realized that this unit came with screws and spacers that would allow me to fix them solid,  so decided to go this route since I run mostly scale anyways.

What are some of your guy's your opinions on minimum track radius on these SD70 and ES44 engines?

I have a few of both, but I have never tested the min track radius with the pilots fixed, nor I have I ever read about anyone who has.  I would guess about 30".  I run them on our club layout with them fixed, but those are on the order of 40".

I've found that 29" radius is the minimum I could go with fixed pilots and Kadee couplers.  Anything less and the locomotive will force the car to derail.  This is on my 29" radius passing siding.

My mainline radius is 33" and I've had no issues, either between locomotives or locomotive/freight car.

The Flyer coupler may have a greater range of motion than the Kadee, but I haven't tried it.
