I went into Manhattan last Friday via the Long Island Rail Road. The ride into Penn Station from Central Islip on an electric commuter train was a good ride, smooth and on time. Not so for the ride home. The track from the exit of the East River Tunnel to Woodside is in terrible condition. Swaying of the train was so bad there were some instances I thought it would lay down on its side. It was the worst train ride I have experienced.

There was no evidence of track repair going on. Commuter Coach 7209 I was riding in had a flat spot on a wheel that was extremely noisy, and I can imagine the damage it was doing to the track.

I realize that the Long Island Rail Road is the busiest commuter line on the planet, but come on MTA, fix that track before there is an accident. My ticket cost $14.95 with a senior citizen's discount and the ride in being at an off-peak fare.
