I acquired this same engine a few months back.  It had an awful Odyssey lurch so I swapped out the Odyssey 1 board for an ERR cruise M.  It was a simple change out and it runs smooth as silk now.  Hopefully yours will not have the lurch.  Good luck with the build!

I plan on 2-railing the loco and using battery power (forgot to mention that in initial post).  All my steamers are BPRC.

Regardless I'll see how it runs (I do have an ERR Cruise Commander if I need to swap).  But if it 's doable the center rollers will be coming off

I can always sell the Odyssey board if it works.

Got the engine yesterday, beautiful!!!  I ran it back and forth on a test track and all is well.

This may have been a mistake, the engine is so nice I may leave it as is (well, the Southern DID come into Portsmouth after all).  That will give me 5 RRs now (SAL, ACL, N&W, NBPL, and now Southern).

I don't think the 4-8-2s ever came into Portsmouth, will have to check my books.

The only photos of Southern trains in Portsmouth (Pinner's Point) I found are of 4-6-2s and 2-8-0s , the SAL Mountain may still be on the table!
