Whenever I acquire a new to me, used engine, I always like to open up the smoke unit and take a peek. A lot can be told inside there!

Well one of the latest units I acquired was supposed to be recently serviced. Hmmm, a few small screws, let me see for my self.

Wick

Whoever serviced the unit I have got the memo, but obviously didn't read past "use tiki torch wick"!! Just cut off a piece of wick and toss it in there. Not exactly!!

Just had to share.

I found 3/16" braided wick on eBay for around $11 for eight feet, it is a perfect replacement for the MTH braided wick.  I also scored a bunch of fatter stuff that I unwrap and it works as well as the Lionel wick.  If you look at torch wick selections, you'll probably come across it.

What you describe is what I do John. Take another look at the pic. That's a chunk cut off a big tiki wick, braid not removed, not fluffed up!!
